Get Rid Of Pests With These Tips And Tricks

Posted on September 12, 2019March 16, 2019 by Louise B. Delia

Where it’s rodents, raccoons or ants, one may encounter pests trying to enter their home. Unfortunately, sharing space with these critters is not a good idea due to spread of disease and unsanitary conditions. Continue to learn more about getting rid of these unwanted pests.

Plug up holes that pests, like mice, can get into with steel wool. While rats and mice can easily chew lots of materials, steel wool is too tough. If it is more than 1/2 an inch, it should be filled up. Rodents can slip through very small openings.

Vacuuming the rugs is a good pest control tip. This will pick up all the ants and bugs that are in your den, kitchen and living room. Dispose of the vacuum cleaner bag in an outside receptacle as soon as possible.

Are you having trouble with fruit flies returning even after taking measures to remove them? They may be living in your sink drains. Seal your drain with a sheet of plastic wrap and monitor the fruit fly situation. If they do, try pouring boiling water down it and scrubbing it thoroughly. This should eradicate the fruit fly problem.

When dealing with a pest problem, check your local ordinances to learn what chemicals you can use. You do not want to use harmful chemicals that contaminate your home and make it hard to sell in the future. This is why it is important to know what is appropriate to use.

If your home has a problem with brown recluse spiders, use sticky traps to catch them. Such poisonous specimens hide easily and can be tough to kill with chemicals. They do need to come out in the night to look for something to eat. You can catch them with traps strategically placed behind furnishings and along the walls.

Use a perimeter spray if you want to keep bugs away from your home. Spray around windows and doors, porches and steps and your foundation. Make sure you are keeping your eyes open for any cracks. Use a filler such as caulk to seal the area.

If you are getting rodents around the house, do not plant trees close to your house. Rodents then climb your trees and enter your home through the attic or roof. Make sure they are a minimum of 15 feet away from the house.

An effective solution for pest control is an electronic pest repellant. These devices are small and can be plugged into outlets in each room. The device then emits a sound that keeps rodents at bay. While humans can hear them, they don’t harm them. Rodents dislike this sound and will leave.

Before tackling a rodent problem, learn what you can about the specific animal you want to target. Know what is toxic to the animals, and also know what tends to attract them. By knowing all about the pest that is in your home, you can better adapt a plan for eliminating it.

Getting these pests out of your house is hard, but the advice described here should give you a good start. Surely, effort will be required to get results. Use what you learned from the above article and get those pesky pests out of your home.
