Master Pest Control With These Tips And Tricks

Posted on March 22, 2019March 16, 2019 by Louise B. Delia

Are you a pest control newbie? There is a lot you can learn, and you’ll find this article helpful in finding ways to do it yourself. There are lots of things you could do to ensure that your home remains pest free.

Try using hairspray to get rid of bees, hornets, or wasps. There are chemicals in hairspray that kill insects immediately, but the perfume in the product also keeps other insects away.

Be sure to check with local authorities before you use pesticides in your home to ensure that they are within code. Using chemicals that are banned can do you an injustice if you put your home on the market. While this is rare, it might cause you to find other avenues of controlling your pests.

Do not buy a new home before getting an inspector to look at it first. Many pest problems go undetected upon an initial inspection. Only by living in the home will the problem become apparent.

Outdoor perimeter sprays are great for insect prevention. You will need to spray near the windows and doors, any porches, steps, and along the foundation. Always look for cracks around the perimeter of the house. Seal such spots with caulking or other material.

Do you have ants in your home? Use borax and sugar to terminate them. Sugar attracts them and borax kills them. Make the mixture by taking a one-quart jar and adding equal parts sugar and borax. Put the mixture in a jar with holes punctured into the top, then shake it over baseboards and over your home’s foundation.

If your pipes are leaking, fix them as soon as possible. Pests need water and are attracted to leaks. Even from a distance, these pests can tell there is water pooling in your home. Don’t bring on a pest invasion by your inaction. Preventative measures can do so much.

Look around your house for any cracks or places that pests could enter, and seal them right away. These are one of the most common entry points for bugs into a home. They fit between even the tiniest cracks. You must seal them up to keep the bugs out.

Use mint to keep mice away from your home. Plant some mint near your home’s foundation. The unpleasant smell will prevent them from entering your home. If mice are already in your home, place mint leaves around areas they are found in. This will repel mice in most cases, but always remember to sprinkle fresh mint leaves.

Every once in a while, check the whole house, even if you do not see any problems right now. If your home has a basement that goes underground, then termites can slowly eat away your home without you realizing it. Pay particular attention to your crawl space or basement.

Implement the tips you’ve just learned, and begin your fight against those pesky pests today! You want to kick out those pesky pests. You have more knowledge to find the right way now. Keep these tips in mind to defend your home against pests.
