Organic Gardening Tips And Tricks Just For You

Posted on October 24, 2019March 16, 2019 by Louise B. Delia

Organic gardening will require some extra research and active avoidance of chemicals. If you chose to garden naturally, you need to acquire some knowledge of the implications of the acidity of your soil, and you need to know how to utilize the correct bugs and insects instead of pesticides. However, growing organic food can be difficult for those who have not done it before. Follow the tips in the article below, and you will be a pro in no time.

Water containing some aspirin helps your plants fight illness. Three aspirins per four gallons of water will help keep your plants healthy. Help your plants to fight disease by spraying them with the aspirin water. Apply at three week intervals.

Pay attention to how much light your indoor plants are getting. If your home does not let in sufficient light, then consider getting plants that thrive in low-light situations. You could also consider using grow-lights for this exact purpose.

Use this simple tip to get your perennial garden ready in a flash. Turn over the soil in your garden so it will be soft and easy to plant before spreading wood chips around your garden. Allow the newly turned soil to sit for two weeks, then plant your perennials.

Have your gardening tools near you to minimize the time spent searching for them. You can wear an apron or pants that have a lot of pockets, or use a big bucket or can. Make sure your trowel, pruning shears, gloves and other important tools are always handy. This will allow you to make easy work of your gardening up-keep!

Do not overlook the benefits of pine mulch for your garden. There are many types of plants with a high acidity, which means they thrive in acidic soil. If you are growing these types of plants, simply gather up fallen pine needles for use in your garden. Cover soil beds with a few inches of pine needles, and they will disperse acidity to the soil below as they decompose.

Consider solving your weed problem without the use of toxic chemicals. You can place newspaper in several layers, and it will help control your weeds. In order to grow, weeds need sunlight. The layers of newspaper will kill the weeds because they no longer receive any sunlight. Newspapers also decompose fairly quickly, and mix with your garden soil. You can then add a mulch layer right on top so that it looks more attractive.

Build raised beds with untreated stone, brick or wood. Any wood you use needs to be untreated and resistant to rot. Excellent choices are cedar, locust and cypress. Treated wood has chemicals that can be harmful to a vegetable garden. If you have to use treated wood, you should line it with a bit of plastic to create a barrier.

Now, you shouldn’t get your hopes up and believe that a few tips are going to turn you into an instant professional gardener. However, these tips are a great starting point if you do plan to grow organically. As you implement these tips and hone your skills, you’ll be a professional green-thumb-holder in no time.
