Looking For Tips About Hvac? You’ve Come To The Right Place!

Posted on December 23, 2017March 17, 2019 by Louise B. Delia

Even though it is very important to have an HVAC system that runs optimally, not all homeowners understand how to keep it in good shape. To learn more, you have to stay on top of your game. The following article can help.

Go through your home before you call HVAC professional. Figure out which rooms are hot and cold. This can help contractors quickly figure out the issue and how to fix it easily and quickly.

Know what work You want done

Know what work you want done before you select an HVAC contractor. It will be hard for a contractor to give you a price estimate over the phone if they have not seen your current system. It will be way more hard if you can’t figure out what they need to do. Thus, it is worthwhile to have this knowledge ahead of time.

If you have units that are condensers outside of the home, keep them free of debris. You don’t know when things are going to pile up, like right after it’s windy or rains, and that can ruin your system. The whole thing can overheat, causing major problems and possibly an enormous expense for you.

Make certain that you clean your condenser when the weather begins to warm. First, turn off the power so that nothing will move as you are working on it. Then take off the grill, take the blades out, and gently clean them.

Your system should be checked twice a year. Your system should be inspected in Spring and Fall. Even if nothing seems wrong, checking it out can help you find and fix potential issues.

Turn off outdoor condenser units

During cold weather , be sure to turn off outdoor condenser units. To prevent damage, turn off your unit if the outside temperature is less than 60 degrees. This will allow your system to work well every year, and that saves you quite a bit on making repairs.

Replace the windows that are single pane

If the house is yours or you’re permitted to, replace the windows that are single pane with windows that are double pane. Having double pane windows allows your air conditioning unit to be run much less during the summer, because the cool air is kept inside the home. When it is cold in the winter months, these same windows will keep the warm air inside as well.

Try to have your HVAC system looked at every year, because regular maintenance will go a long way in energy efficiency. The contractor should oil the parts that move and check the motor and freon levels. Those things are going to help your system at peak performance.

If nobody is home, turn off the AC. By raising the temperature from, for example 78 to 80, your house will be warmer, but only up to 80 before your AC kicks in. If you decide to set the temperature to 82 or 83 or so on, your AC won’t go on until it reaches that temperature. If it’s left on all day, it will fight the heat all day, which uses quite a bit of electricity.

A good heating and cooling system is critical to maintaining a comfortable home. If your system breaks down, it can be rather frustrating. Luckily, you know have the information to help prevent this from happening.…
